The aim of the Intensive Programme (IP) was to convey a European perspective on corporate strategies to a multinational group of students. The IP is a joint venture of three universities and took place at the IUT Strasbourg (France), the BWCSU Karlsruhe (Germany) and the Liverpool Hope University (UK). The student participants study business administration, information technology or business information systems in seven European countries. The invited professors and tutors also came from all over Europe and the U.S. and are experts in these fields. They contributed their specific experiences and perspectives on the subjects of the programme.
The IP is broken down into the subareas company surveys, project management techniques, computer-based business simulation and intercultural business communication. The participants visited enterprises from automotive, IT and brewery industries and conducted field surveys of typical corporate strategies and other management issues in Strasbourg as well as in Karlsruhe and Liverpool. In addition to the field research, seminar work was being accomplished. During the stay at the IUT Strasbourg, the students gained insights into techniques of project management and worked on the execution of projects in international teams. This was intensified with a computer-based business simulation carried out during the stay at the BWCSU Karlsruhe - a highly effective and interactive approach which guarantees outstanding learning progress and high involvement of the participants. The experience with work in international teams is being exploited in Liverpool, where the participants concentrate on economic and intercultural issues from a comparative perspective.
The assessments of the field surveys and further results were regularly compiled and updated by the participants on this web site. Thus, this web site is the forum of discussion and documentation and serves as the basis for evaluations and publications. Regional media and press are being invited to report on the events staged in the IP.
